Red Bank’s run ends in Class 4A quarterfinals with loss to mighty Alcoa

While the Red Bank Lions were able to avoid the rain Friday night, they weren't able to weather the storm. Perennial state power Alcoa did what it has done so often to Chattanooga-area football teams in November: The Tornadoes blew into town and won, this time posting a 38-13 victory at Red Bank in a TSSAA Class 4A quarterfinal. "We just ran up against a team that's just a very, very good football team that doesn't make mistakes," Lions coach Ted Gatewood said.

Red Bank holds on late to beat 2024 state champion Macon County

There will be no repeat state champion in TSSAA Class 4A this season. Red Bank senior running back Jacolbi Salley made sure of that Friday night. Salley tallied 239 yards on 23 carries with career-high four touchdowns, and Red Bank's defense was able to hold off Macon County as the Lions won 31-28 in the first round of the playoffs.

LFO doomed by Rockmart’s dominant start in region showdown

FORT OGLETHORPE, Ga. — Lakeview-Fort Oglethrope's football team had a tough task Friday night. The Warriors had to find some way to keep pace with Rockmart's offense. As LFO learned, though, it's hard to catch a Yellow Jacket. Rockmart scored touchdowns on its first three possessions, and the visitors forced LFO's offense into back-to-back three-and-out series on the way to defeating the Warriors 41-27 in a GHSA Region 7-AA matchup at Tommy Cash Stadium.
