Grant to fund tiny homes for Osage veterans in Skiatook

The Nation has been awarded $250,000 of grant funding to build three tiny houses in a Skiatook subdivision to serve veterans who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness. Jon RedCorn, director of Osage Nation Housing, said the tiny houses will be about 480 feet, which is about the size of a small one-bedroom apartment. They will be built in the Sky Lodge subdivision in Skiatook, located on the south side of State Highway 20, just off Lenapah Avenue.

Regarding your recent article about the tenants of a Songhees mobile home park being let off the hook by quashing the order to remove their mobile homes, I think it’s patently unfair of the tenants’ lawyer to cast aspersions on the Songhees’ governance abilities because they didn’t maintain the mobile homes in the meantime.

Kudos to Chief Paul Hurst of the View Royal Fire Department for pushing the Ministry of Transportation to erect safety barriers in the median on the Trans-Canada Highway between Thetis Lake and Six Mile Road. As a resident of the area, I can say that the sound of sirens as fire trucks and ambulances rush to a crash is all too common.
