Robin Amer is a reporter based in Chicago. Much of her work deals with urban planning, the built environment and the complex lives of post-industrial cities. Her work has aired on WBEZ, Marketplace, Re:Sound and other outlets, and has been recognized by the Society for Professional Journalists and the Chicago Headline Club.

What was your first job as a journalist?

First full time job was as a producer for Open Source, a public radio show that was an early adopter of blending the online world with radio.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yep! But mostly for artistic reasons.

News breaks here. It connects reporters with sources, story ideas and colleagues. And I know employers will judge me in part on my following.
