Abbeville County gives final nod to $25 million budget

ABBEVILLE — Abbeville County Council passed the third reading of the county’s $25 million budget resolution at its monthly meeting on Monday. The ordinance contains no millage rate increase and includes a 3% cost-of-living raise to all county employees. It is hoped the raise will aid in employee retention, said County Director Brian Moon after Monday’s meeting. The $25 million figure includes state funding.

Abbeville County voters speak out

ABBEVILLE — The voters spoke and Lakelands candidates did well. Unofficial tallies in Abbeville County in the 2026 primary elections were released about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. In the gubernatorial race, Attorney General Alan Wilson was the top vote getter with 910 votes cast, a 31.07% share. Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette came in second with 887 votes, a 30.28% share. Rom Reddy was third with 443 votes, a 15.12% share. Jermaine Johnson led the field of Democrats in the gubernatorial race.
