Epoxy treatment to close Ballenger Highway bridge over the Flint River

FLINT TWP., MI -- The Genesee County Road Commission plans to take the final phase in its rehabilitation of the Ballenger Highway bridge over the Flint River next week. Weather permitting, the GCRC will close the bridge, located north of Beecher Road in Flint Township, starting on Monday, July 6, and Tuesday, July 7, to treat it with epoxy. The treatment is designed to seal new bridge decks to prevent corrosion from road salt.

Drivers will be detoured as Elms Road bridge rehab starts in Flushing Township

FLUSHING TWP., MI -- Drivers on a section of Elms Road in Flushing Township will face a four-month detour during a construction project that’s scheduled to start on Monday, July 6. The Genesee County Road Commission said rehabilitation work on the Elms Road bridge over the Flint River is expected to be completed by the end of October. A detour will take drivers from Flushing to Linden to Beecher roads, and vice versa. The county announced plans to rehabilitate the Elms Road bridge in March.
