Adaptation to progressive addition lens-induced optical blur reduces peripheral blur sensitivity
Abstract Progressive addition lenses (PALs) introduce spatially varying blur, including blur associated with unwanted astigmatism, but the perceptual consequences of this blur remain poorly understood. We tested whether short-term PAL wear was associated with spatially localized changes in blur sensitivity corresponding to regions of unwanted optical blur or with changes that were more broadly distributed across the visual field.
Pregnancy promotes tumor metastasis through adenosine-induced immunosuppressive neutrophils in pre-metastatic microenvironment
|
Abstract Tumor metastasis is the primary cause of cancer treatment failure and mortality. Pregnant patients with cancer sometimes experience a poor prognosis and accelerated disease progression, yet the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here we show that pregnancy enhances tumor metastasis in female mice by elevating adenosine levels, which drives pre-metastatic niche remodeling.

Macrophage migration inhibitory factor in atrial fibrillation
Abstract Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is a multifunctional upstream cytokine that has attracted increasing attention for its role in the initiation and perpetuation of atrial fibrillation (AF). This review systematically discusses the dual regulatory roles of MIF in AF and its potential as both a biomarker and a therapeutic target.
