Still hot, but closer to normal for highs this week

The extreme heat and humidity will back off a little for the rest of the week with a few rain chances on and off. The Extreme Heat Warning and Heat Advisory is in place through 10pm Monday night. We’re almost done with the extreme heat! Scattered showers and storms (above) are possible tonight and into Tuesday. We’ll start the day in the 60s and 70s Tuesday. A warm start, but fairly typical for late July. Back to normal for highs on Tuesday.

Heat continues - KBSI FOX23 News Cape Girardeau News

The heat is going to continue for at least one more day then it slowly cools down through the rest of the week. Storm chances will be sparse this week. The Extreme Heat Warning continues through Tuesday evening. The heat index will reach for 115 degrees in the afternoon. Actual temperatures will be well above average on Tuesday. Highs will try for the upper 90s. The dew point will push into the middle 70s, even a few upper 70s for some.

Storms Saturday, heat comes back

Storms are possible on and off Saturday, then we dry out and warm back up. It’s going to get hot again! Highs on Saturday will be a little lower because of the rain chance. It’ll be humid, though. Showers and storms will be possible on and off, drifting from northwest to southeast. The severe threat is small. The heat comes back on Sunday and lingers into next week. A Heat Advisory is in place for much of our area during this time and we’ll likely see more expand further east and south.
