What passes for Left-wing thought on pensions is polluted by the assumption moneybags oldies are luxuriating in under-taxed wealth at the expense of the young. Based on the peddling of that myth, as I wrote here last week, pensioners are seen as a deserving target for new Chancellor John Healey in next month's Budget. Anyone who seriously believes older Britons are not paying enough tax needs to go to Specsavers so they can read the figures.
