GRAND COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — A new wildfire was discovered in Grand County Wednesday morning, according to Utah Fire Info. ‘Agate Fire’ was discovered in a remote area east of Cisco, Utah. By the time crews arrived on scene, forward progression of the fire had stopped at two-track roads in the area. The fire was mapped at 115 acres, fire officials said. Salt Lake City to close Jordan River bridges for 6 months of reconstruction

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Salt Lake City will be rebuilding Jordan River bridges in Salt Lake City’s Poplar Grove neighborhood beginning this month. The construction will take place on the bridges at 200 South and 500 South. They will be closed for up to six months for full reconstruction, officials said. “The new bridges will be stronger and more resilient during earthquakes and major floods,” the city said.

Containment increases at Tower Fire, mapped at over 1,300 acres

MILLARD COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Containment at Tower Fire, burning in Millard County, Utah, has increased to over 30%, according to an update from Central Utah Fire Interagency on Wednesday. The wildfire is located three miles southwest of Scipio, Utah. It is currently mapped at 1,369 acres in size. The terrain is described as rolling hills and steep, rugged terrain. While fire crews have determined this wildfire is human-caused, the specific cause is still under investigation at this time.
