The Florida Gators (49-20) exacted revenge with a 9-6 win against the Texas Tech Red Raiders (45-20) Thursday night. Lucky for the players, they don’t have to look far to fulfill that need. Different branches of the Florida baseball family tree could be found hanging out throughout TD Ameritrade Park during the Gators’ opener.
CWS Preview: Florida Faces Texas with Season on the Line
The Florida Gators (47-20) find themselves in a position they’re rarely in heading into Tuesday’s elimination game against Texas (42-22): the team needs to bounce back following a Brady Singer loss. Over the past two seasons, he’s lost only seven games. Florida has a long road ahead of them if they are to pull off back-to-back championships. Dating back to 1947, only 10 teams have ever won a title after losing their opening game.

Offense reigned early as the Bears got on the board first in the opening frame.
Singer Shines as No. 1 Florida Baseball Opens Kentucky Series with Win
It’s hard to find many teams that have produced at the same level offensively as Florida in 2018. Sixth ranked Kentucky is one of those teams. Entering Thursday night’s matchup against the Gators, the Wildcats had a .307 team batting average, 59 home runs, and 200 walks. That’s what made Florida ace Brady Singer’s outing in Game 1 of this critical SEC series so impressive. It wasn’t the fact that he dazzled as usual, but rather the fact that he dazzled against such a potent lineup.
No. 1 Florida Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader, Series Against Missouri

Sunday’s series finale started and ended roughly for Gator starting pitcher Tyler Dyson.
Preview: No. 1 Florida Baseball Hits the Road to Face Tennessee
The No. 1 Florida baseball team (26-5, 7-2) will be in Knoxville this weekend for a three-game set against the Tennessee Volunteers (18-12, 4-5). Preview: No. 2 Florida Baseball Hosts Jacksonville
The Florida Gators (18-4, 2-1) are back in Gainesville and will host the Jacksonville Dolphins (13-8) in a mid-week contest. Kevin O’Sullivan’s bunch are fresh off their first SEC series of the year and have won five of their last six games. Florida has four more wins this season through 22 games than they had in 2017. That’s thanks in large part to an offense that has produced at a frantic pace. Of Gator hitters with more than 10 at-bats, six have an average over .300.

The No.2 Florida baseball team(16-3) opens up SEC play this weekend on the road against the South Carolina Gamecocks (12-5). The Gators are 3-2 away from home this season. Head coach Kevin O’Sullivan will be looking for his reliable weekend rotation to keep Florida’s momentum rolling following a big win over in-state rival Florida State this past Tuesday. To say Florida’s starting pitching has been good in 2018 would be an understatement. Gator starters have a combined 2.74 ERA.

Preview: No.1 Florida Baseball Readies for Rhode Island
The Florida Gators(12-3), fresh off a pair of mid-week losses to UCF, are looking to bounce back as they host the Rhode Island Rams(2-8) for a three-game weekend series. Florida is 8-0 all-time against Rhode Island. The last time the two schools squared off the Gators swept the Rams by a combined score of 37-5 to open the 2015 season. Rhode Island’s record isn’t necessarily a true indicator of the team’s ability. Four of the Rams’ eight losses have been by a single run.
Florida Baseball Silences Stony Brook in 8-0 Win
The Gators improved to 11-1 behind another solid outing from Saturday starter Jackson Kowar(3-0). The win is Florida’s fourth in a row and second shutout of the week. Florida is 4-0 all-time against Stony Brook. JJ Schwarz is the only current Florida player who saw playing time in the 2015 series against the Seawolves. He went 4-for-9 with two doubles. If he keeps pace with his early-season stats in 2018 he should find similar success.
Wil Dalton Homers Thrice as Florida Topples Stony Brook 12-5
The Gators improved to 10-1 behind a career night from outfielder Wil Dalton. He homered in the first, fifth and eighth innings. Dalton is the first Florida player to hit three home runs in a game since JJ Schwarz hit four against Stetson in 2015. Freshman Jordan Butler was phenomenal on the mound, as was UNF starter Frank German. Through the first four innings, the two pitchers allowed one hit a piece. Both starters’ final lines were impressive. Following Butler’s exit, Kevin O’Sullivan turned to fellow freshman Jack Leftwich in relief.

Preview: No. 1 Florida Baseball Travels to Miami for First Road Test
The No. 1 Florida Gators (5-0) have been on a roll to begin their season. This weekend the undefeated Gators hit the road for the first time to take on the Miami Hurricanes (2-2). Florida baseball is 120-128-1 all-time against Miami, but they’re 27-11 under head coach Kevin O’Sullivan. The trip should serve as an early-season challenge for his group. “It’ll be a lot of firsts for a lot of guys being on the road.” O’Sullivan said.
Florida Baseball Rides Relievers to Victory over Bethune-Cookman
The Gators remained undefeated with a 7-4 win over the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats. Head coach Kevin O’Sullivan mixed and matched his bullpen arms to piece together Florida’s fifth consecutive victory. Jordan Butler struggled a bit in his debut as a starter. The freshman lefty had to battle out of second and third inning jams, but he escaped without a scratch. He failed to dodge damage for long, however.

Kowar Shines as Florida Topples Siena 10-2
Following a shaky start, Jackson Kowar righted the ship and led the Gators to a 10-2 win over Siena on Saturday. Florida struck early and often on offense to give Kowar more than enough assistance. The victory is Florida’s second in a row and it ensures a season-opening series win. Kowar was less than stellar in the first inning. Right off the top, he surrendered two runs via a two-run homer from MAAC preseason player of the year Joe Drpich.

Preview: No. 8 Auburn Looking to Bounce Back Against Georgia

This Saturday, they’re hoping to get back on track when they hit the road to take on the Gators.
Will Trae Young continue to shine in Tuscaloosa?
Trae Young seems to have righted the ship following a couple of lackluster performances that had critics wondering whether or not he was worthy of the hype he’s been receiving. He put up quite the performance against No. 5 Kansas in their 85-80 victory on Tuesday. A quick reminder about his latest line: 26 pts., 77.8 FG%, and nine assists. Young has 10 double-doubles this season. That’s tied for 15th in the country. Oklahoma also has two true road wins against top-10 teams in the country.
