A low to mid-level trough south of the Panhandle in the Gulf moving west across the Northern Gulf toward Louisiana will keep an active rain pattern in place. REST OF TODAY: Widely scattered showers or thunderstorms at a decent chance you catch an hours worth of rain is to be expected and you might catch a few in a somewhat periodic fashion this afternoon. Rain chances are around 60% for both the coast and 70% inland.

(WJHG/WECP) - As of September 3, 2026, the Atlantic Basin has recorded zero hurricanes—putting the season just one week away from tying the satellite-era (since 1966) record for the latest first hurricane. If the Atlantic remains without a hurricane through September 10, the 2026 season will tie the record for latest first hurricane in the reliable satellite era. If no hurricane forms by September 11, we will reach somewhat uncharted & record-breaking territory.
