Huge £25m investment to transform Nantwich creamery

Family-run dairy business, Heler Foods, has announced a £25m investment in its Nantwich cheesemaking operations. Based at Laurels Farm, Crewe Road, Heler Foods says the upgrade will significantly boost production and modernise the site with new high-speed pasteurisers, eight cheese vats and a new cheddar belt system. Once complete, the creamery's annual output will rise to 38,000 tonnes.

Business owners using Lock Stock Self Storage's Catherine Street/Frances Street site say running their companies from there is saving them a small fortune and helping them weather challenging economic conditions. Owner of William James Carpets, Steve Smith, formerly located on Oak Street (now Farmfoods), has three containers at the facility.

Crewe man charged with class A drugs offences in town

A Crewe man has been charged in relation to class A drugs offences in the town. Nial Smith, 30, of Stewart Street, has been charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possession with intent to supply cocaine. He has been remanded in custody to appear at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday 11 August. The charges relate to an investigation into drugs offences in the Crewe area.
