As an avid college hoops fan, I’m outraged about the recent decision to expand the NCAA basketball tournament to 76 teams, and you should be too. The NCAA has decided to expand the college basketball tournament from 68 to 76 teams next year, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. With a glance, one may view this positively. More teams in March Madness means more competition, and for basketball fans, more games.

More than three weeks have passed since Rhode Island’s loss to Duquesne in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, and a national champion has since been crowned. Kingston has undergone several leadership changes since the start of the college basketball season, including the hiring of athletic director Pat Lyons and women’s basketball coach Colleen Mullen. With most of the coaching carousel settled, the outlook is clear: Archie Miller will return for his fifth season at Rhode Island.

Saint Louis, VCU are locks for NCAA bids with A-10 tourney wins

In a tournament week that has seen chaos across the country, Saint Louis and VCU both picked up important wins in the A-10 Championship quarterfinals. The Billikens rallied past George Washington, erasing a 21-point deficit to keep their dreams of leaving Pittsburgh victorious alive. The Rams also found themselves in a dogfight with Duquesne, trailing 39-29 at halftime, but outscored the Dukes by 20 in the second half to emerge with a 71-61 win.
