He-Man and She-Ra were a big deal in the 80s. There were the toys, the cartoons, the commercials about more toys, and then that power ballad of a theme song. Toy companies and cartoons had us believing in some far out things. There were living rooms in the mid-80s where a kid was watching those cartoons with a life-size blow-up doll of Cringer, companion read-alongs, Crystal Palace, and figurines to hold. I've been so captured by the race for U.S. Senate in Maine that I haven't paid much attention to the California primaries.
