What was your first job as a journalist?
My first job as a journalist was as a reporter/anchor in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
How is social media changing news?
Social media has changed news by making it even more immediate, more personal, and providing the public the opportunity to weigh in.
Why did you become a journalist?
I became a journalist in order to help people benefit from the power of good information with which to make informed decisions.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
My wrote a newsletter for a youth group that I belonged to, and I also wrote a newsletter in college.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
The best pitch I ever received was to do a series on the challenges of ethnic actors in Hollywood. I won awards for my reports.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
Most of my recent story pitches have been valid, but in the smaller markets, people often ask if the station can cover local picnics, etc.
