PIAA SOFTBALL 2A: Holy Redeemer shut out by South Williamsport

DISTRICT 2 SOFTBALL: Schmidt, Holy Cross top Old Forge for Class 1A title

D2-4 SOFTBALL: Williamsport tops Wilkes-Barre for second-straight title
EDWARDSVILLE — With last season’s lopsided loss looming in the Wilkes-Barre Area dugout, the Wolfpack needed something to rally behind. Williamsport responded with three runs of its own in the bottom of the frame, claiming a lead it would not relinquish for the remainder of the game.

D2 GIRLS LACROSSE: Young core powers Crestwood’s playoff hopes
Veteran leadership is often cited as a critical fixture, but Crestwood could be poised to flip that notion on its head in the District 2 Class 2A tournament. Youth has been no barrier to entry for many of the Comets’ biggest contributors. Goal-scoring aficionado Gia Caporuscio, attackers Jackie Gallagher and Addison Knorr and goalie Lexi Zabroski are sophomores, as eight of the Comets’ 12 starters are underclassmen.

PIAA BOYS 2A BASKETBALL: Old Forge cruises past Sayre, advances to second round; Trail ousted
OLD FORGE — There’s no better time than the playoffs to introduce a little spark. Prior to Saturday’s PIAA first-round contest, Old Forge’s players warmed up with “Not Like Us” emblazoned on the back of their brand new playoff shirts. It’s not just a topical pop culture reference for the Blue Devils though. It’s also a warning. “This whole season, we’ve been playing tough, physical defense and good offense. We just feel like we’re better than everybody else.

PIAA FIELD HOCKEY: Wyoming Area preps for familiar foe in state semifinals
