Trump power to shape Supreme Court doused by Democratic rout | The Day
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump probably has appointed his last U.S. Supreme Court justice. With Democrats poised to hold at least 54 Senate seats starting Jan. 3, the party will have the power – and the motivation – to stop Trump from filling any vacancy that arises over the next two years. Republicans had been quietly eyeing the seats of Justices Clarence Thomas, 78, and Samuel Alito, 76, the court’s oldest members and most consistent Trump supporters.
Young trespassers were playing with fire | The Day
DEAR ABBY: There is an 8-foot privacy fence all around my backyard, except for a small path that goes from the corner of the driveway around the side of the house. You can't see the path or the backyard from the street. The other evening, I was grilling dinner when a pair of young women walked right up inside the fence. One of them introduced herself as a college student from Europe. At first, I thought they were hurt or something and needed help, but then they said they were selling magazines.

These pictorial distractions — televised media take note — stopped working on the Main Streets and on the farms. The public felt in their wallets that they were being played.
