THAT OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING IN PAPILLION PAPILLION POLICE CHIEF IS TALKING LIVE RIGHT NOW. LET'S GO THERE. WAS INITIATED. THERE WERE SOME SHOTS EXCHANGED DOWN NEAR 96TH AND CORNHUSKER NEAR THE LUX GRILL. THE PURSUIT CONTINUED ENDED UP OVER HERE IN THE HOME DEPOT PARKING LOT. SUSPECTS WERE FIRED UPON.

Witnesses describe chase, officer-involved shooting at Papillion Home Depot

Witnesses described the scene that unfolded Friday night leading to an officer opening fire on a suspect in a busy business area in Papillion. Those witnesses said they saw a police chase underway that turned into the Home Depot near Washington and East Sixth Street. They could hear gun shots.Papillion Police Chief Chris Whitted confirmed the suspect was injured and taken to the hospital. No officers or bystanders were hurt in the gunfire.

Law enforcement in Sarpy County is asking people to avoid the area of Washington and East Sixth Street at this time due to an active scene near the Home Depot and Target in Papillion. Witnesses tell KETV Newswatch 7 they saw several police cruisers chasing a car near the Home Depot just before 9 p.m. Friday night. They tell KETV they heard multiple gunshots, then saw the vehicle crash into the store. They immediately heard 10 to 15 gunshots. People biking on the nearby trail say they ran for cover.
