The New Operating Model For Warehouse Performance
Tags: Automation, Labor Management, Technology, Warehousing, Workforce Four pillars of high-performing operations have emerged: workforce resilience, operational flexibility, automation readiness, and performance management. Warehouse leaders have spent the past decade investing in new facilities, warehouse management systems, automation, and robotics.
An epidermal membrane-associated periodic skeleton restricts endocytosis to stabilize neuron-epidermal attachment and preserve axons
Abstract Spectrins are highly conserved molecules that form a distinct membrane-associated periodic scaffold within axons to provide mechanical resilience. In Caenorhabditis elegans, UNC-70/ß-Spectrin also functions within the epidermis to maintain the integrity of sensory neurons. The precise molecular organization in this tissue and the cellular mechanisms that mediate this protection are unknown.
A Major Medical Breakthrough Was Born From Curiosity - But That Kind Of Research Now At Risk
The landmark success in restoring vision to children with a rare genetic disorder is a triumph not just of modern medicine, but of the century-long pursuit of knowledge for its own sake. From Cajal’s 19th-century sketches of the retina to gene delivery using AAVs, this journey underscores how foundational science—often dismissed as impractical—powers life-changing innovations Earlier this year news broke about doctors in London curing blindness in children with a rare genetic condition.
'Curiosity-driven research' led to a recent major medical breakthrough, but it's under threat
Earlier this year, news broke about doctors in London curing blindness in children with a rare genetic condition. The genetic condition was a severe, albeit rare, form of retinal dystrophy. It causes severe sight impairment and can be caused by defects in many different genes. In this case, the four young patients had mutations in the gene encoding AIPL1. This accounts for up to 5% of infants affected by this condition, and has no treatment.

Neuron-epidermal attachment protects hyper-fragile axons from mechanical strain
Highlights • Embedment and attachment during development protect axons from mechanical damage • Mutations in LET-805 and UNC-70 alter neuron-epidermal attachment and embedment • Neuron-epidermal attachment is instructed by the neuron • Neuron-epidermal attachment is re-formed during regeneration Summary Axons experience significant strain caused by organismal development and movement.
How to Avoid Currency Risk When Investing Abroad
For several years, the United States has dominated inbound and outbound deal flow and should maintain its preeminent spot in both categories. Fiscal largesse, reopening of businesses and a substantially diminished U.S. dollar make the United States an especially compelling target for inbound investment. In fact, the U.S. is expected to significantly outpace other developed market economies, recording year-over-year GDP growth of 6.5%. This will provide a substantial tailwind.

Market Insight On the Importance of Being Fallible in 2020
Market Insight On the Importance of Being Fallible in 2020 Don Curren January 6, 2020 Cambridge facebook Cambridge twitter Cambridge linkedin There are, of course, a couple of objections to the title of this piece. Humans don’t have to work at being fallible – it comes all too naturally. But this article isn’t really about the importance of being fallible. It’s about “fallibilism,” the idea that we should always be conscious of how fallible we are.

Laying the Foundation For a Long-Term 3PL Partnership
Many companies start working with a third-party logistics (3PL) provider to fix an isolated problem at the lowest possible cost. Unfortunately, these relationships are often short-lived and serve only to fill an operational gap. But thoughtfully planned 3PL partnerships can produce invaluable results using a long-term approach that focuses on sustainable operational gains, rather than a temporary price break.
