Piatt Companies breaks ground on Esplanade project

CHATEAU — A run-down and rusting warehouse filled with graffiti might not be the most scenic location to break ground on a multi-million dollar development, but that’s exactly what took place on Dec. 1 as Piatt Companies kicked off construction of their long-awaited Esplanade project. Initially announced in 2017, Esplanade is a redevelopment of 15 acres of former industrial land along the Ohio River estimated to cost $740 million.

Local crossing guards honored during National Night Out

Ray | Managing Editor ALLEGHENY CITY CENTRAL — Two crossing guards who work on intersections along North Avenue were honored for their combined 30-plus years of service on the Northside during the neighborhood’s National Night Out celebration on Aug. 5. Carol Bujalski and Paula Barth were presented trophies by Allegheny City Central Association Secretary Larry DiCicco in recognition of their many years keeping Northsiders safe while crossing the road.
