1 Introduction There is abundant evidence that hypoglycemia in older adults is associated with numerous adverse outcomes, including falls and mortality [1-7]. To decrease the risk of harms from hypoglycemia, type 2 diabetes guidelines for both community-dwelling older adults and nursing home residents recommend considering less intensive glycemic control and simplification of complex insulin regimens [8-10].
