Mitochondrial protein OPA3 sustains cardiac function by regulating calcium handling in male mice
Abstract Heart failure (HF) is a growing global health burden characterized by impaired cardiac contractility and progressive remodeling, driven in part by disrupted Ca2+ handling and mitochondrial dysfunction. However, the molecular mechanisms coordinating these processes remain incompletely understood. Here we showed that OPA3 was decreased in both human and murine HF.
Hybrid MLP-CatBoost model for GDP growth forecasting: a machine learning-driven economic decision support system
Since the mid-20th century, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has been a crucial indicator used to measure economic performance and inform macroeconomic policy. For instance, throughout the 2008 global recession, economies with enhanced growth achieved a combined GDP decline of over 3.5%, highlighting the sensitivity of policy judgements to GDP trends. The global GDP recovered by 5.9% in 2021, ensuring a 3.4% contraction in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, as given by the World Bank.

TDP-43 skein-like inclusions are formed by BAG3- and HSP70-guided co-aggregation with actin-binding proteins - Nature Cell Biology
Abstract In multiple neurodegenerative diseases, the RNA-binding protein TDP-43 forms cytoplasmic aggregates of distinct morphologies, including skein-like, small rounded granular and large spherical inclusions. Here, whereas the N-terminal self-oligomerization domain regulates TDP-43 demixing into cytoplasmic droplets, inhibition of N-terminal self-oligomerization domain-mediated oligomerization is shown to promote the formation of skein-like inclusions.

Pricing VXX Options With Observable Volatility Dynamics From High‐Frequency VIX Index
1 Introduction This paper develops a discrete-time joint analytical framework of pricing volatility index (VIX) and VXX options consistently, in contrast to all the previous works on VXX option pricing, which are in the continuous-time setting. By specifying a discrete-time model for the VIX dynamics—the family of the heterogeneous autoregressive (HAR) generalized autoregressive conditionally heteroskedastic (GARCH) models, we derive the implied VXX dynamics and the VXX option pricing formula.

Salt-welding strategy for the design of repairable impact-resistant and wear-resistant hydrogels
Abstract Self-healing hydrogels can autonomously repair damage, enhancing their performance stability and broadening their applications as soft devices. Although the incorporation of dynamic interactions enhances self-healing capabilities, it simultaneously weakens the hydrogels’ strength. External stimuli such as heating, while accelerating the healing process, may also lead to dehydration. Developing a stable repair strategy that combines rapid healing and high mechanical strength is challenging.

Host‐induced gene silencing of Sporisorium scitamineum enhances resistance to smut in sugarcane
Sugarcane smut disease, caused by the basidiomycetous fungus Sporisorium scitamineum, is one of the major threats to the sugarcane industry. The potential method to control smut disease in sugarcane is the cultivation of resistant sugarcane varieties (Bhuiyan et al., 2021). However, development of smut-resistant sugarcane still faces big challenges due to the allopolyploid nature and complex genetic background of sugarcane.
Global analysis of protein and small-molecule substrates of ubiquitin-like proteins (UBLs)
Abstract Ubiquitin-like proteins (UBLs) constitute a family of evolutionarily conserved proteins that share similarities with ubiquitin in 3D structures and modification mechanisms. For most UBLs including Small-Ubiquitin-like Modifiers (SUMO), their modification sites on substrate proteins cannot be identified using the mass spectrometry-based method that has been successful for identifying ubiquitination sites, unless a UBL protein is mutated accordingly.

Acetylation of lysine 82 initiates TDP-43 nuclear loss of function by disrupting its nuclear import
Abstract The hallmark of a spectrum of age-dependent neurodegenerative diseases, including Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), is a TDP-43 proteinopathy that includes nuclear loss of function and cytoplasmic aggregation. Here, reduced proteasome activity, as naturally occurs during aging, is shown to inhibit nuclear import of TDP-43.
Targeting proliferating cell nuclear antigen enhances ionizing radiation‐induced cytotoxicity in prostate cancer cells
1 INTRODUCTION Prostate cancer (PC) is the leading cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in men in the United States. High-risk PC accounts for over 15% of all PC diagnoses.1 Radiotherapy combined with long-term androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is currently the standard of care for these patients. However, multiple clinical trials have shown that the overall cure rate is still low and the local failure rate is high.
