Taoiseach denies softening language on Gaza: 'You have to tailor the message'

The Taoiseach has denied he is softening his language about Gaza when speaking to US audiences. Leo Varadkar is in Washington DC for the annual St Patrick's Day celebrations. He will raise the conflict in Gaza when he meets US President Joe Biden tomorrow. Mr Varadkar said is not softening his tone on the trip. "Just to be very clear: there's nothing I wouldn't say here that I wouldn't say back home - or vice versa," he said.

Taoiseach hopeful new sites for Ukrainians won't be targeted by protestors

The Taoiseach has said he is hopeful new sites announced for Ukrainians moving here won't be targeted by protestors. Nearly 2,000 beds for Ukrainian refugees are being created in Dublin, Laois, Limerick, Kildare and Cork. They will offer accommodation to those fleeing the war for 90 days. People arriving from Ukraine will also get a reduced weekly allowance from tomorrow. Speaking in Boston, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said he's not expecting major protests outside the centres.
