Emergency crews responded to a reported plane crash on Highway 144 west of Glennville on Tuesday evening. The Tattnall County coroner confirmed one person died in the crash.

Savannah chef Mashama Bailey has been named to the 2026 TIME100 list of the world's most influential people, a recognition she says still feels hard to believe. TIME published Bailey's entry on April 15, with former Vice President Kamala Harris writing the tribute. Bailey is the chef and co-owner of The Grey, the nationally acclaimed Savannah restaurant housed in a former segregated Greyhound bus terminal.
