HOUSTON (CW39) – Turn off Houston’s 610 West Loop onto Memorial Drive, and the city fades. The noise drops, the trees rise, and the air shifts. It feels peaceful now, but in 1917, this same stretch of land held fear, tension, and the footsteps of soldiers whose story was buried for generations. This was Camp Logan, a wartime training ground where the Buffalo Soldiers of the 24th Infantry Regiment faced a battle far from the front lines.
