Video game history is littered with letdowns. Games and consoles that were way too hyped up and fell disappointingly short. A lot of these talked-up products are looked down upon because their bars were set way too high. They simply built up unrealistic expectations and didn't meet them. But not all of them were truly bad: just the victims of a constantly chugging hype train. To put it more plainly: they weren't flops. Flops are a special breed. Video game flops are straight-up failures.

When sitting down with the Nintendo Switch 2, I couldn’t help but think of its predecessor and how experimental it felt when it arrived. For the original Switch, Nintendo turned to Nvidia for a chipset that had already appeared in past products (one that was already several years old). The rest of the package omitted a lot of the niceties found in other home consoles, like 4K support, Ethernet, and more. A handful of features, such as Bluetooth audio, were missing out of the gate.

The last ASUS Strix Scar laptop I used was the RTX 4080–powered 2023 Scar 16. I always appreciated how, performance-wise, it never felt compromised. I traveled a lot throughout 2023, and the Scar 16 was my faithful companion throughout that period. It played everything I threw at it effortlessly and kept me connected to the latest and greatest games while I was away from my consoles and desktop rig. That’s not to say I didn’t have gripes.

How is social media changing news?

It's certainly a lot more instant. There are a lot of people who wouldn't necessarily call themselves journalists breaking it.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

The way I view it: it is to provide info to and advocate on behalf of those who do not have the means or the megaphone to do it themselves.
