We illustrate our predictions using hybrids between Laysan and Black-footed Albatrosses ( Phoebastria immutabilis and P. nigripes , respectively) because we had genetic samples for both parental species and for hybrids that could be used to test for a siring bias in F1 hybrids and to evaluate long-term gene exchange between the parental species. Paired males of both of these albatrosses are known to force copulations on conspecific females.
