Precipitation-dependent nonlinear accumulation of soil organic carbon in response to warming via microbial residues
Abstract Climate change reshapes global terrestrial ecosystems via rising temperatures and shifting precipitation, jointly regulating soil organic carbon (SOC) dynamics. Multi-factorial experiments are vital for unraveling climatic interactions, yet most only apply one warming level, leaving ecosystem nonlinear responses poorly explored.
Factors of pre-existing low muscle mass and its relationship with mortality in critically ill patients: a sex-specific analysis
Abstract Objectives: To investigate the factors, and mortality associations of pre-existing low muscle mass in ICU (intensive care unit) patients, with emphasis on sex-stratified analysis. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 760 adult ICU patients (513 males, 247 females). Pre-existing low muscle mass was defined using sex-specific cutoffs based on CT.
Pangenome and resequencing analyses reveal flowering evolution and genetic control in Cerasus
|
Abstract Prunus subgenus Cerasus contains numerous species with ornamental, edible, and medicinal value. However, limited genomic resources have constrained systematic analyses of structural variation and the genetic basis of key phenological traits in this group. Here, we assemble eight genomes from diverse Cerasus species. Together with 13 published genomes, we construct a pangenome of 21 accessions representing 17 species. Phenological observations reveal substantial variation in flowering time.

Permafrost tipping point triggered by warming-driven loss of old carbon
Abstract Permafrost carbon vulnerability, particularly concerning temperature thresholds and old carbon mobilization, remains a critical uncertainty in climate projections. Through a five-year, multi-level warming experiment on the Tibetan Plateau, we investigate these dynamics using >40,000 hourly flux measurements combined with vertical CO2 concentration and δ13C-CO2 profiling.

Functional group and aridity regulate impacts of climate change on plant phenology: a meta-analysis - Nature Communications
|
Abstract The interaction between temperature and precipitation greatly affects plant phenology. However, these effects can vary between additive, antagonistic, and synergistic, and it is not clear what determines these different outcomes. One hypothesis is that the effect on plant phenology varies with aridity and plant functional group.

An early warning signal for grassland degradation on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau - Nature Communications
Abstract Intense grazing may lead to grassland degradation on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, but it is difficult to predict where this will occur and to quantify it. Based on a process-based ecosystem model, we define a productivity-based stocking rate threshold that induces extreme grassland degradation to assess whether and where the current grazing activity in the region is sustainable.

Investigating the influence of substituent groups in TTM based radicals to the excitation process: A theoretical study
Investigating the influence of substituent groups in TTM based radicals to the excitation process: A theoretical study Abstract Tri-(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl) methyl (TTM) based radicals can be promising in providing relatively high fluorescent quantum efficiency. In this study, we have evaluated the photo-luminescent properties of a series of TTM-based radicals by means of DFT and TD-DFT method.
Do City Exports Increase City Wages? Empirical Evidence from 286 Chinese Cities
Abstract : The optimization of income distribution is an important index to achieve high-quality economic development in the process of urbanization. Using matched data from the China Statistical Yearbook and Customs Statistical Database, this paper examines the impact of city exports on city wages based on panel data from 286 Chinese cities at or above the prefecture level. The paper finds that city exports increase city wages through technology-upgrading mechanisms and profit-sharing mechanisms.

Probing Longitudinal Carrier Transport in Perovskite Thin Films via Modified Transient Reflection Spectroscopy
Probing Longitudinal Carrier Transport in Perovskite Thin Films via Modified Transient Reflection Spectroscopy Shengli Zhao, Jing Leng, Shiping Wang, Xianchang Yan, Zixi Yin, Yanfeng Yin, Jun Zhang and Shengye Jin Abstract An accurate characterization on the longitudinal (along the thickness direction) carrier transport property is of significant importance for evaluating the quality and performance of perovskite thin films.
Ultrafast and High-Yield Polaronic Exciton Dissociation in Two-Dimensional Perovskites
Layered two-dimensional (2D) lead halide perovskites are a class of quantum well (QW) materials, holding dramatic potentials for optical and optoelectronic applications. However, the thermally activated exciton dissociation into free carriers in 2D perovskites, a key property that determines their optoelectronic performance, was predicted to be weak due to large exciton binding energy (Eb, about 100–400 meV).

Excitation-Dependent Emission Color Tuning from an Individual Mn-Doped Perovskite Microcrystal
Divalent manganese cation (Mn2+) doped perovskite materials are of great interest for their unique optical, magnetic, and electric properties. Herein, we report an excitation-dependent emission color tuning from an individual Mn-doped CsPbCl3 microcrystal (MC) with a wide color tuning range, reversible and continuous color change, and high photostability.
Disentangling the role of oxygen vacancies on surface of Fe3O4 and γ-Fe2O3
Disentangling the role of oxygen vacancies on surface of Fe3O4 and γ-Fe2O3 The outstanding performance of Fe3O4 and γ-Fe2O3 as catalyst in various iron oxides strongly depends on their crystal structure. However, along with the development of mechanism research, surficial oxygen vacancies (OVs) are found to play a more decisive role in determining the kinetics, energetics, and catalytic activity.
Ni/Nitrogen-doped graphene nanotubes acted as a valuable tailor for remarkably enhanced hydrogen evolution performance of Platinum-based catalysts
Markedly minimizing the platinum (Pt) loading and increasing its mass activity are significant to drive down the cost of H2 production from water splitting. Here, a novel electrocatalyst, Pt nanoparticles (NPs) anchored on Ni/nitrogen-doped graphene nanotubes (Pt/Ni@NGNTs), was designed and its exceptional catalytic performance towards hydrogen evolution was demonstrated. Ni@NGNTs itself showed poor catalytic activity.
