Michael Gebert’s Biography

James Beard Award-winning writer and videomaker for the Chicago Reader, Time Out Chicago, Where Chicago, Serious Eats, Maxim, Saveur.com, Grub Street, Thrillist and many others. Widely recognized as one of the leading experts on Chicago's food scene, from top to bottom. As the video producer of the Reader's Key Ingredient multimedia series, he has produced over 100 segments with Chicago's leading chefs, and won a James Beard Award in 2011. He has been nominated two more times for his video work on his blog, Sky Full of Bacon. He’s participated as a food expert on PRI’s Marketplace, Chicago Public Radio, WGN Radio, the Printers Row Book Festival, the Good Food Festival, Cochon 555, Baconfest, the Greater Midwest Foodways Association, 2nd Story and many other local events.
