What was your first job as a journalist?

I wrote for my college paper. My first regular paid gig was as a general assignments reporter for The China Post.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Not really. As a kid writing papers for school.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Email.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I'm a big fan of Google Docs for writing articles. I use a Canon 6D for video and photography projects. I have a Tascam for audio.

What's your favorite social network?

I don't have a favorite but I mostly check FB and Twitter. Instagram to a lesser degree.

Why did you become a journalist?

I like the fact that the job is a constant education; Getting paid to talk to other people about what they know is exhilarating.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I didn't but I did work for my middle school newspaper and my college newspapers.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Tough question. I guess the series of stories I did on child indentured servants in Haiti.

When's the best time to pitch you?

There is no specific time.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Riding a bike.
