Hampden-Sydney College President Larry Stimpert will retire at the end of the 2026-27 academic year, the men’s private college announced Monday. Stimpert has been president since 2016 and overseen significant fundraising during his tenure, including doubling HSC’s endowment to exceed $300 million. He also led multiple capital projects over the past decade, including construction of the Pauley Science Center.

These Virginia CEOs rank among world’s most powerful women

Three Virginia-based CEOs once again made Fortune‘s list of the world’s 100 Most Powerful Women in business for 2026, the publication announced this week. Accenture Chair and CEO Julie Sweet landed at No. 4 this year, down two spots from last year, when she was at No. 2. CEO of the Global Fortune 500 professional services and tech consulting firm since 2019 and chair since 2021, Sweet was previously Accenture’s North American CEO from 2015 to 2019.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter, but mainly because so many editors and writers are there. I try not to get too entangled!

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I wrote about a man who was exonerated after serving 13 years for a rape he didn't commit. Bringing his story to the public was important.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

My advice is to think broadly about who you want to work for. Validation doesn't come just from writing for the famous outlets.
