By Dan Walls, June 2026 Once I’d got over the shock and existential dread that comes with realising it’s been 20 years since The Kooks released Inside In/Inside Out – an album that soundtracked much of my teenage years and was a firm favourite of 15-year-old me – I knew I had to make the trip to The Piece Hall to see them celebrate the milestone in person. After a quick ride over from Leeds, we got off the train and found ourselves dead opposite the venue.

Guitar music had real teeth, and there were a couple of absolute powerhouses with incredible front-women were always high up on the roll-call. So, when Garbage and Skunk Anansie announced a co-headlining date for Halifax this summer, I was instantly intrigued. I’ve always liked the songs I know from both bands and I’d never seen them before. So, when they’re on my doorstep – why not?

By Steve Crabtree, June 2026 My connection to Paul Weller goes all the way back to Sunday morning, May 19th, 1985. I was just seven years old, sitting by the stereo, listening to Radio One with my tape recorder. I was trying to capture a Jimmy Nail song (‘Love Don’t Live Here Anymore’) because he was in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, and my parents absolutely loved that show (as did I, even if I didn’t really get it back then).

As a freelancer for the Halifax Town official website, writing the match previews for each and every game.

How is social media changing news?

Personally I find the saturation of all wannabe news sites lowering the quality of news. People aren't influenced by decent stories a lot now

What's your favorite social network?

At the moment, Instagram. And it has been for a while. It seemingly hasn't been spoilt...yet!
