1. Introduction The latest global diabetes map (1) released by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in 2021 revealed that the number of adult patients with diabetes (20–79 years old) worldwide has reached 537 million. Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the most common microvascular complication in patients with type 2 diabetes (2). Chronic hyperglycemia leads to the dysfunction of various cell types in the kidney and eventually leads to progressive renal failure (3).
