Samuel Hasselhorn & Ammiel Bushakewitz, WINTERREISE – TCE
Thomas Hampson a 70 ans
Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau hors chant

This solution is very economical to keep your home cool when it is really too hot.

Summer sets in, the heat is back and with it the air of holidays, picnics or evenings on the terrace… but also scorching nights and overheated interiors.

Looting: what if we extended the Culture pass to Gucci? By Sylvain Fort
2023-07-08 16:00:00 From all sides, voices were raised to deplore that the urban riots targeted media libraries, libraries and schools. Some have even gone to look for the virulent verses of Victor Hugo addressed to an incendiary of books, where the poet demonstrates that he is destroying the way to freedom there. To which the culprit responds, lapidarily: “I can’t read.” Which, in the mind of Victor Hugo, opens up an abyss of reflection towards the need for education, school, etc.

Xi Jinping: after ten years of reign, the great leap backwards
When he took over as head of the regime in November 2012, not only was nobody suspicious of this leader with his debonair appearance and impeccably slicked back black hair, but he aroused hope in the West. Isn’t he the son of a reforming Deputy Prime Minister? At the time, Xi Jinping inherited an enviable situation: poor and reclusive at the death of Mao, China rose in forty years to the rank of second world economic power thanks to prodigious growth.

The French language throughout history: what you were never taught
We all speak French: you, your cousin, your sister-in-law, your neighbors and your colleagues, and that seems normal to you. But it is not. It took long centuries to transform what was initially one evolution of Latin among others, practiced in a tiny territory around Paris, into a language understood throughout France. But, by the way, where does French come from?
The improbable return of horse racing in Ukraine
I went to the races last week. It was a Tuesday, in Vincennes. I needed a good reason for that, I had it, my filly was running in third gear. There were three or four at the “owners’ entrance” to filter out free riders. Except there were no gate-crashers, landlords, or anyone. I played the game anyway, just that they don’t feel completely useless, which is depressing and can make you mean.
Women's C1: eternal, the Lyonnaises find their throne
Eternal OL! In the sweltering heat of a hostile and largely colorful Juventus Stadium of “blaugrana“, it is indeed the red and blue of Lyon who ended up triumphing, thanks to a start to the meeting as clinical as it is bewildering, with three goals scored during the first 33 minutes, three flashes sufficient to suddenly disintegrate the Catalan base and all its certainties. “We had the perfect first half. We felt a power from the whole team.

Coming from China, the dragon mare Long Ma bewitches the crowd in Toulouse
“Wow, but she’s huge!exclaims a little girl perched on her father’s shoulders. The ocher creature, of wood and steel, 11 meters high, has just woken up. Around her a few children are startled. On the Trail of the Giants, where Long Ma appeared alongside the Minotaur and the Giant Spider on Saturday, her nostrils smoke, her bright red eyes stare at the audience. Suddenly, the dragon mare rears up. Its huge mouth opens, spitting threatening flames. Limited offer.
Covid-19: how could the epidemic evolve? Scientists try to project themselves
The Covid-19 epidemic has been relegated to the background. In question: a busy news between the war in Ukraine and the presidential election. However, the health crisis remains a reality on French territory. The authorities record on average more than 135,000 new cases of contamination every day.
Pakistan: with the arrival of Shebbaz Sharif in power, the return of political dynasties
The “new Pakistan” has lived. Less than four years after promising his fellow citizens to rid the Islamic Republic (230 million inhabitants) of corruption, Imran Khan, 69, was ousted from power by a motion of censure in Parliament on April 9.
NBA: Brooklyn will face Boston, Minnesota will challenge Memphis in the play-offs
Favorite, Brooklyn was able to count on Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, 59 cumulative points. But the meeting that we thought folded at the end of the first quarter (40-20), was finally made more indecisive by the Cavs. “We had ups and downs, but we stuck together, we were resilient. We feel good, even though we know the job isn’t done“, commented Kyrie Irving (34 pts, 12 assists).
Ukraine: the United States and India spare each other without bringing their positions closer
“It is important that all countries, especially those with influence” on Russian President Vladimir Putin, the “urge to end the war“, declared the head of the American diplomacy Antony Blinken in front of the press after this summit by videoconference followed by a meeting in Washington with his Indian counterpart and the ministers of Defense of the two countries. “And it is also important that democracies (…) speak with one voice to defend the values we share“, he added.
One of the most disappointing aspects of our time is that the explosion of knowledge has not led to the multiplication of geniuses. The population is growing rapidly. Mass education has taken over all countries. The dissemination of knowledge has been made universal by the Internet. The ability to share ideas – regardless of background, gender or skin color – should have exploded the potential number of geniuses. Look at the evolution of knowledge of Pluto.
Several thousand protesters against racism in France
Gathered in Place du Châtelet, the Parisian demonstrators (2,100 according to the Ministry of the Interior, between 8 and 10,000 for the organizers) rushed towards Place Stalingrad behind two banners proclaiming “stop state crimes” and “wherever we come from, wherever we were born, our country is called Solidarity“.
