With recent cuts of more than $1 billion in funding to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, news outlets across Colorado are being forced to reimagine public media for growing communities that deserve trusted, unbiased sources of information. Where so much national news can leave us feeling isolated, divided and afraid, local public media brings an entirely unique experience to our audiences.

Dear KUNC listeners, users, and supporters, Twitter has labeled NPR’s (National Public Radio) official Twitter account as “government-funded media” after identifying the account as “state-run media” in previous days. These designations are usually given to government-controlled media outlets, which is inaccurate when referring to NPR. This morning, NPR decided to pause posting on all 52 of their Twitter feeds.

Important programming changes coming to KUNC

I am writing to let you know that we’re making some changes to our programming schedule in September that will bring broader perspectives on the news and offer more from KUNC’s Northern Colorado newsroom. On September 5th, KUNC & NPR’s Morning Edition extends until 10:00 a.m. on weekdays. This extra hour will also include news features and interviews from the KUNC News team. Since 2020, we’ve seen shifts in commuting patterns, where morning drivers are heading into work a bit later than before.
