KERMIT, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The Kermit Yellow Jackets are entering a new chapter in 2026 with a familiar face leading the program. After former head coach John Fellows resigned following a three-year tenure, Kermit promoted Andy Hrncir from within. Hrncir brings plenty of experience to the job, including seven seasons as Wink’s head coach and previous coaching stops in Andrews. The Yellow Jackets finished 3-8 last season, improving by one win from each of the previous two years.

High Texas Property Taxes: State leaders call for reduction Wed, August 12, 2026 at 4:09 PM EDT AUSTIN, Texas (KMD/KPEJ)- Texas's new state comptroller, Don Huffines, is among several state leaders, like Governor Greg Abott, now calling for lower property taxes for Texans. Huffines, who was sworn into office on August 3, said he is pledging to "deliver property tax relief to Texans." As he acknowledged that residents pay more in property taxes than most Americans.
