Shipman named GIAA 3A Coach of the Year - Valdosta Daily Times

VALDOSTA – Fresh off of leading Valwood to its first baseball state championship in school history, head coach Robert Shipman was named GIAA Class 3A Coach of the Year Monday. In his 13th season leading the Valiants, Shipman guided the team to a 28-4 record and an 11-1 mark in region play en route to a 3A District Region Championship. The Valiants posted a .312 team batting average and recorded 112 stolen bases, while also posting a .932 fielding percentage and a 1.84 team ERA.

Former Lady Blazer Shannon Williams inducted into GSC Hall of Fame - Valdosta Daily Times

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Former Valdosta State women’s basketball standout Shannon Williams was inducted Thursday evening into the Gulf South Conference Hall of Fame at the 2026 GSC Awards presented by Caldwell Architects. VSU has been a mainstay in the GSC Hall of Fame as former VSU baseball coach Tommy Thomas was inducted in 2015 and former Blazer quarterback and head coach Chris Hatcher was enshrined in the inaugural class in 2014 for eleven total Blazers now in the GSC Hall of Fame.
