‘First catch feeling’ fuels Kankakee River Fishing Derby

Baited hooks will soon be cast into the Kankakee River by anglers hoping to reel in prizes as the 43rd annual Kankakee River Fishing Derby begins Friday. Staff, community help beautify courtyard at Bourbonnais care facility

There’s not a price tag that can be placed on peace, tranquility or independence. That sentiment was echoed by the Citadel of Bourbonnais staff and volunteers as they unveiled the newly-beautified courtyard, now the Serenity Garden, to their residents. A Garden Party was held June 25 as those that had a hand, or green thumb, involved in the project gathered to welcome the more than 90 residents of the skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility to their renewed outdoor space.
