Love The One You're With
When times get tough, it pays to have friends. And, in business, there's no better friend to have than a loyal customer. With the world mired in lingering global economic uncertainty (and a growing number of firms reporting elongating sales cycles), companies would be wise to use this moment as an opportunity to narrow their focus ( a topic I discussed in a previous post) and invest more in securing and advancing the needs of their existing installed base. Why?
What's Your Crisis Mode?
It seems you can't switch on the news or talk to an executive without the discussion turning to the current macroeconomic crisis. And, more importantly, what to do about it. In my experience, there are two ways to view crises of any kind. With concern and trepidation. Or as an opportunity.
How hybrid working can work
Whether businesses like it or not, hybrid work is here to stay, and employees like it. And whether they believe it or not, the model is working. Research shows that hybrid workers – those who work partly in an office and partly remote – are more productive and engaged than employees who are entirely office-based or fully remote. They also report better wellbeing – both physical and mental – and feel more positive about their organisation.
Employees Resolve to Shape New Future of Work in 2022
Nearly 90 percent say they’ll work on flexible models, with the majority planning to remain fully remote While many employers continue to push for a return to the days of old where all employees are in the office all the time, new research reveals this isn’t likely to happen. According to Citrix polls conducted on LinkedIn and Twitter, nearly 90 percent of 13,000 employees plan to work on flexible models in the year ahead, with the majority indicating they’ll remain fully remote.

2014 Forecast: Business Gets Strategic About The Cloud
By Tim Minahan, Chief Marketing Officer, SAP Cloud Photo: Shutterstock Businesses found religion in the cloud in 2013. And their appetite for cloud related technologies -- from public apps to private cloud to platform -- will only grow in the years ahead. In fact, market-watchers at IDC predict that spending on the cloud from 2013-2017 will increase at five times the pace of overall tech spending.

Give them the tools they need to perform at their best — at a time when they’re needed most — and watch them thrive As we kick off 2021, organizations are accelerating digitization and embracing flexible and hybrid work models. Outcomes Over Output: What Employees Are Looking for in 2021
The pandemic has forever changed the way employees view work. Once it eventually subsides, many workers will be eager to explore their career options and change jobs. If businesses want to attract and retain the talent they need to move forward, they must understand candidates’ mindsets and desires in this new talent market.
Work 2021: Prepare for a flexible future
A year ago, not much about the way we worked had changed in decades. Most companies still organised work around major hubs in large cities and their workforce was comprised of local talent that commuted to the office every day, regardless of the type of work they needed to complete. Then the global pandemic hit, and everything changed. Flexible work models replaced traditional ones as people were forced to work from home, and work became an activity, not a place. And the change has just begun.
How to architect the future of work after the Covid-19 pandemic
Even before Covid-19, remote work was on the rise because of its clear benefits to both organizations and employees. Companies found it much easier to recruit with a larger pool of potential hires in positions ranging from sales to marketing to programming. As many job roles became virtual, employees benefited from physical location being less critical to career success and opportunities.

What will work look like in 2035?
At a time when it is difficult to predict what might happen tomorrow, it’s tough to say what the future of work might hold. Yet, savvy companies are using this time to rethink workforce strategies and work models to prepare them to thrive well into the future. With this in mind, Citrix has undertaken the Work 2035 Project, a foundational study and ongoing initiative in which we are partnering with enterprises, governments and academia. Our goal?
City living loses its shine as the desire for remote working soars
In just a few months, the COVID-19 pandemic, along with the mandate to work from home, has drastically altered people’s perceptions of city living, recent research from Citrix finds. As many job roles become virtual, location has become less critical to career success and opportunities than ever before, and this trend could be a permanent one.
Citrix customers find success in the cloud
Cloud transformation is certainly nothing new. For years, organizations in every industry have been developing a measured approach to cloud adoption — seeking a more effective IT operating model and a more efficient way to deliver applications and IT resources. Yet, the recent global crisis has elevated the need for greater agility and scalability in every aspect of business.
A Silver Lining in the Pandemic Cloud - The Employee Experience has Changed Forever
It’s not about getting the most out of people anymore, but giving them the space to perform at their best and adapt to the new world of work Where and how work gets done has forever changed. But one thing remains consistent: the need to provide a superior and consistent work experience that empowers employees to perform at their best across any work channel or location. Work is no longer a place.
Navigate digital work transformation with the Citrix Summit Series
It’s been quite a year. And, while none of us want to relive the trials of the last few months, 2020 has taught us all a very important lesson: success will go to the most agile businesses that can quickly adapt to changing market dynamics and empower employees with a consistent and secure work experience wherever work needs to get done — in the office, on the road, or, as we’ve all witnessed recently, at home.
Back to office won't mean back to normal
As governments around the world ease their lockdowns, businesses must decide how, when, and if to return their employees to offices. Most companies are realizing that back to the office will not mean back to normal. And as they prepare to restart their operations in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, it is important that they understand the concerns and expectations their employees have for returning to the office so that they can do so in a safe and efficient manner.
Remote Work Is the “New Normal” - Here’s How to Set Your Team Up for Success
Tim Minahan, CMO and EVP of business strategy at Citrix, discusses how to navigate managing a remote team while remaining laser-focused on a unified strategy as we confront the “new normal” of working from home. Working remote is perhaps the biggest change in the way business is done that the world has ever seen. But as the COVID-19 pandemic spreads, it is fast becoming the new normal. Remote work is here to stay for the foreseeable future.
Evolving Citrix Synergy Digital for our COVID-19 response
We continue to monitor the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation around the globe, and adapt our policies, communications, and programs to ensure our top priority: the health and safety of our employees, customers, partners, and communities. Now and into the near future, the world remains, rightfully so, almost exclusively focused on ensuring the security of employees and maintaining business operations. And we want to ensure that we are responsive to these needs.
Tales of a Virtual CMO
As the CMO for a company that provides a platform for remote work, I’ve always had the ability to do my job from wherever I happen to be. To me, that’s completely normal. For most, it’s anything but. Working remote is perhaps the biggest change in the way business is done that the world has ever seen. But as the COVID-19 pandemic spreads, it is fast becoming the new normal. And to emerge successfully from the crisis, companies must recognize this and help their employees adjust.
Update on Citrix Synergy 2020
Citrix Synergy has long been an important event for our company. Among other things, it is a unique opportunity for Citrix team members to share with our partners and customers the many ways we are transforming the way people work. This year, our enthusiasm leading up to Synergy has been understandably tempered by concerns related to the global outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus). Above all, the health of our employees, customers, partners, and community is paramount.
The New Year Promises a New Look : @VMblog
Industry executives and experts share their predictions for 2020. Read them in this 12th annual VMblog.com series exclusive. By Tim Minahan, Executive Vice President, Business Strategy and Chief Marketing Officer, Citrix Despite advances in technology and the rise of a new generation of workers, the way we work hasn't changed much in the last two decades.
It’s Business. Take it Personally
Technology has made our personal lives easier than ever. So why has it turned us into task rabbits in the office? On any given day, the average employee spends nearly 65 percent of their time on busy work and in meetings, 20 percent searching for information and just 15 percent doing what they want and are paid to do. Why? Because technology that was supposed to streamline work has only made it more complex. As consumers, we rely on things like Instagram and Uber to organize and manage our lives.
Unleash a better way to work with Citrix Workspace
Think about the work you can do in about an hour. If you’re focused and that time is uninterrupted, you can probably get a lot accomplished and feel like you’ve succeeded in creating value for your organization. But what if that is the only focused time you have to get meaningful work done? The rest of your day?
Business has a problem, and remote work is the answer
Research shows companies that embrace flexible work models can close the widening talent gap and boost business productivity The gap between jobs and skilled workers continues to grow. And it’s killing productivity and growth at companies large and small. Korn Ferry recently forecast that by 2030, there will be a global shortage of 85.2 million workers globally, and that it will result in lost revenue opportunities of $8.452 trillion. That’s a serious problem. But there is a way to overcome it.
IT and HR: Teaming to Improve the Employee Experience
You’ve probably heard the numbers: According to Gallup, 67% of U.S. employees are disengaged at work. Why? Because work is far more complicated than it needs to be. What’s making it so hard? Ironically, the same technology that was supposed to make it easy. For decades, information technology (IT) has been putting solutions in place to automate and streamline entire functions, from procurement and finance to sales and marketing.
Managing the Talent Crunch: An A-Generation Z Guide
The gap between available jobs and people to fill them continues to widen. Gen Z can narrow it — if you can get inside their minds. The sky isn’t falling. But the number of workers to fill jobs around the world is at an alarming rate. Korn Ferry recently forecast that by 2030, there will be a global shortage of 85.2 million workers globally. Many businesses are already feeling the pinch — especially those in information services sectors or traditional businesses undergoing digital transformation.
Reimagining Employee Experience and Celebrating Customer Success
An energy company that keeps the lights on for hundreds of thousands of families and businesses. A global payment provider that processes more than 40 billion online and in-store transactions for shoppers each year. A law firm that seeks justice for clients across 11 countries. No matter the industry, all these organizations have one thing in common — they believe that experience matters. And that a great customer experience begins with a great employee experience.
Work Sucks
It’s a universal truth. And one that companies need to confront because it’s killing their business Let’s be frank: work today sucks. It sucks for companies that are struggling to compete for talent against a backdrop of a global shortage of 95 million medium-to-high-skilled workers. It sucks for managers charged to drive digital transformation and growth with a workforce that often lacks the skills to get them there.
Work Smarter, Not Longer
Time is precious. And every day, we are robbed of it at work by technology, processes and distractions that slow us down. We work at night — and even on the weekends — to make up for it. And it’s taking a toll. Data from the American Institute of Stress shows that U.S. workers — already identified as the most overworked in the world — are putting in longer hours than ever. Yet we’re delivering less. Why?
Drawn to cities for career success, U.S. professionals now want out
Plagued by a housing crunch and the high cost of urban living, a growing number of U.S. professionals say they would prefer to leave the city, if they could be assured that their career and professional life wouldn’t suffer as a result. According to a recent Citrix survey conducted by OnePoll, 70 percent of knowledge workers living in urban locations say they would move to broader metro or urban areas if they could perform their jobs to the same level.
The Key to Achieving Better Organizational Productivity Starts with a Next-Generation Onboarding Experience
Onboarding is arguably the most important thing a human resources department manages. It marks the first touchpoint an employee has with their new company, and consequently shapes their work habits, relationships and long-term experience. It’s similar to the way that the first interaction a consumer has with a company informs their opinion of a brand.
The Diplomat and the Daredevil: Meet them and be inspired at Synergy 2019
I’m thrilled to announce that we’ll be welcoming Madeleine Albright and Erik Weihenmayer as guest speakers at Citrix Synergy 2019 in Atlanta. As the first female U.S. Secretary of State and the first blind person to summit Mount Everest, both of these visionaries have made it their life’s work to chart a way forward where no path existed.
Embrace the Madness
Pundits claim the NCAA Tournament is bad for business. Here’s why they’re wrong. Pundits love to hate March Madness. The tournament is bad for business, they claim, creating a distraction in the office that ranks just behind Facebook and texting. And as the games roll on, they’ll speculate on the impact it has on employee productivity — or lack thereof — and the billions in losses it will lead to. But they’re looking at things all wrong.
Putting Security in Context
By Tim Minahan, Executive Vice President of Business Strategy and Chief Marketing Officer at Citrix Innovation knows no boundaries. It can happen anywhere, anytime. And it doesn’t occur in a vacuum. Innovation flows when employees and contractors openly share technology, ideas, and information. Smart companies recognize this. But they’re also aware of the security risks such a distributed and collaborative innovation model creates. And they’re upping their game to manage them. Take Saab, for example.

What's Your Leadership Philosophy?
I was recently asked to explain my leadership philosophy. A seemingly simple question on the surface. Throughout my life, I have been fortunate enough to lead some great teams, both in the office and on the playing field. Yet, I have never consciously summarized my leadership philosophy. Until now. I am not naive enough to believe that my opinion encapsulates all the attributes of great leadership. People far wiser and more accomplished than I have penned entire tomes on the subject.
