Michigan’s 2026 governor’s race is officially set. Democrat Jocelyn Benson and Republican John James won their respective primaries Tuesday (Aug. 4), but in dramatically different fashion. Benson, Michigan’s secretary of state, defeated Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson with more than 83% of the vote, easily securing the Democratic nomination.
