Monroe County deputies getting $70,000 firearms upgrade

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) — Monroe County deputies will soon receive new handguns and patrol rifles as part of a $70,000 equipment upgrade. Sheriff Kevin Crook said 35 deputies are getting new handguns, and 25 of those are also receiving new patrol rifles. The firearms will be equipped with optics and flashlights. Firearms instructor Spencer Woods said the optics will help improve accuracy and decision-making.
