Abstract As biodiversity is declining, the dynamics of species interactions is a growing conservation concern. However, estimating and monitoring species interactions across large spatial and temporal scales remain challenging, and thus changes in species interactions and the subsequent networks of interactions remain relatively unexplored. Here, we assess changes in the network structure of common bird communities from France.

1 Introduction Quantifying and understanding global biodiversity changes are critical research challenges. A commonly used approach to quantifying global biodiversity changes is to rely on the linear trend in global indices derived from the combination and collation of local monitoring data distributed across realms and groups (e.g., Living Planet Index; McRae, Deinet, and Freeman 2017; WWF 2022).
