What was your first job as a journalist?
I worked as a sports and general assignment intern (and later freelancer) for the Arcadia News, a small neighborhood paper in Phoenix.
How is social media changing news?
Social media means anyone, journalist or not, can break a story in seconds via social media if they happen to be in the right place.

What does it mean to be a journalist?
Being a journalist means providing useful, factual, accurate information to your readers.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I use the standard fare: computer, audio recorder, smartphone, etc. My pen and steno pad are still my best friends, though.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I worked for my high school paper at Thunderbird High School for 4 years and held the position of sports editor and editor-in-chief.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
My story on the SkyBridge development at Gateway Airport, because it was the result of being at the right place and lucking into a scoop.
What's your favorite drink?
Old-fashioned - bourbon, no muddled fruit.

I enjoy reading The Atlantic, Wired and Deadspin.
