Field-informed THMC modeling of heat extraction from a deep fractured carbonate geothermal reservoir in Xiongan
Abstract Deep fractured carbonate reservoirs are promising geothermal resources, but their production performance is controlled by coupled fluid flow, heat transfer, stress evolution, fracture-aperture change, and water-rock reactions. This study develops a field-informed thermo-hydro-mechanical-chemical (THMC) model to investigate heat extraction and operational scenarios in the Gaoyuzhuang carbonate reservoir, using Well D22 in the Xiongan New Area as a representative case.
Dietary quality across the life course and metabolic syndrome: evidence from two decades of follow-up in rural China young adults
Abstract Background: The global prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) among young adults has reached 17.4%. We examined associations of three dietary indices and life-course dietary quality trajectories with MetS and its components using a birth cohort. Methods: Participants from rural western China were followed at four time points: infancy, school age, adolescence, and young adulthood (mean age 20 years).
Near-infrared AIEgens with high singlet-oxygen yields for mitochondria-specific imaging and antitumor photodynamic therapy
Near-infrared AIEgens with high singlet-oxygen yields for mitochondria-specific imaging and antitumor photodynamic therapy Shasha Zhang, Wenfang Yang, Xiao Lu, Xinyi Zhang, Zhichao Pan, Dahui Qu, Dong Mei, Ju Mei and He Tian Abstract AIE-active photosensitizers (PSs) are promising for antitumor therapy, due to their advantages of aggregation-promoted photosensitizing properties and outstanding imaging ability.

PLOS ONE: Who Should Be Targeted for the Prevention of Birth Defects? A Latent Class Analysis Based on a Large, Population-Based, Cross-Sectional Study in Shaanxi Province, Western China
The wide range and complex combinations of factors that cause birth defects impede the development of primary prevention strategies targeted at high-risk subpopulations. Latent class analysis (LCA) was conducted to identify mutually exclusive profiles of factors associated with birth defects among women between 15 and 49 years of age using data from a large, population-based, cross-sectional study conducted in Shaanxi Province, western China, between August and October, 2013.
Prenatal Micronutrient Supplementation Is Not Associated with Intellectual Development of Young School-Aged Children
Background: Micronutrient supplementation is often prescribed during pregnancy. The effects of prenatal iron and multimicronutrient supplementation on intellectual development in young school-aged children are less than clear. Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the long-term effects of prenatal iron plus folic acid or multiple micronutrient (including iron and folic acid) supplementation vs.
