What was your first job as a journalist?
Blogger covering the WCC back in 2012. It wasn't a true job, but I treated it as if I was a serious journalist with an active readership.
How is social media changing news?
In one particular way, it's doing harm by pulling back on editorial discretion. Fearmongering is a lot easier now than it used to be.
What's your favorite social network?
Instagram. For work though, it's Twitter.
Why did you become a journalist?
I was in school studying comedy writing in Chicago and a bit homesick. So I started writing about Gonzaga as a hobby and it stuck.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I did not. But I did take part in an after school TV news program for teens called Emerge News. I was the main anchor my junior year.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Anytime, all the time.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
On my phone... wait, that's a computer. Outside, walking to or from somewhere, or nowhere in particular.
