SMITH TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police say a burglary at a local gas station led investigators to uncover a much larger crime spree that may be connected to nearly 100 vehicle break-ins across the Burgettstown area. According to Smith Township police, surveillance video captured a masked teenager inside B-Town Gas shortly after 4:30 a.m. on May 10. The store owner was alerted by his alarm company, checked his live security cameras and called police.

Elderly woman rescued after falling down steep embankment along Montour Trail

An elderly woman is recovering after falling about 45 feet down a hillside along the Montour Trail Monday afternoon. Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Chief Russ Beeson said firefighters, police and medics responded after the woman lost her footing and fell down the steep embankment. Crews used specialized rescue equipment to safely bring her back up to the trail. Beeson shared photos of the rescue with Channel 11 and said his all-volunteer department trains extensively for these types of emergencies.

Dormont Council to vote on exclusive negotiating agreement for possible residential buildings Original

DORMONT, Pa. — Big changes are already on the way for the 41-year-old Dormont Junction T Station, but it’s a proposal involving the station’s parking lots that is generating the most discussion. Dormont Council is expected to vote Monday on whether to enter into an exclusive negotiating agreement with Philadelphia-based developer Pennrose. The agreement would begin a lengthy process to explore the possibility of redeveloping the parking lot property near the station.
