Inhomogeneity of negative enthalpy enables excellent mechanical properties in nanosized single crystals of multi-principal element alloys
Abstract Many nanosized metals with limited dislocation nucleation and multiplication usually exhibit poor plasticity. Previous studies have demonstrated that multi-principal element alloys (MPEAs) can achieve a combination of strength and plasticity. However, whether these mechanical properties extend to their nanosized counterparts and how nanosized MPEAs accommodate plastic deformation remains unknown.

Generation and characterization of an anti ITGB4 monoclonal antibody that blocks Zika virus entry
Abstract Introduction: Zika virus (ZIKV) causes congenital disease and neurological complications, yet no approved vaccines or antivirals are available. Integrin β4 (ITGB4) has been identified as an entry receptor for ZIKV. Methods: Recombinant human ITGB4 ectodomain was expressed using a baculovirus-insect cell system and used to immunize BALB/c mice. Hybridoma screening identified monoclonal antibody 7C3. Binding affinity to ITGB4 was determined by biolayer interferometry.
Protein kinase Cη–MARCKS axis associations with epithelial barrier disturbance and inflammatory readouts in ulcerative colitis
Abstract Intestinal epithelial barrier disruption is a hallmark of ulcerative colitis (UC). Protein kinase Cη (PKCη) and its substrate myristoylated alanine-rich C-kinase substrate (MARCKS) have been implicated in cytoskeletal organization and barrier regulation, but their roles in UC remain incompletely defined.
Van der Waals strain hardening and large uniform tensile elongation in GaSe
|
Abstract Van der Waals (vdW) semiconductors are promising candidates for next-generation electronic devices. Although plasticity has been observed in these materials, strain hardening and large uniform tensile elongation remain elusive. Here we report that GaSe single crystals exhibit exceptional tensile ductility when loaded along directions inclined to the [0001] zone axis, achieving uniform tensile elongation exceeding 40% together with pronounced strain hardening.

Covalency modulation doping enables durable high-voltage operation in NiO-based all-solid-state electrochromic devices
Abstract Inorganic all-solid-state electrochromic devices (ECDs) are promising for smart windows and adaptive optoelectronics, but they often suffer from insufficient optical contrast, slow switching kinetics and poor cycling stability. High-voltage operation enhances optical modulation and redox kinetics, yet it accelerates metastable phase transitions and structural degradation.
Increasing fatigue resistance in ordered intermetallic alloys with multi-element symbiosis
Abstract Intermetallic alloys, recognized for the long-range atomic ordering and resultant impressive mechanical properties, are highly sought after in various advanced fields, including aerospace, automotive, and nuclear energy. However, their widespread application is still hindered seriously due to the poor fatigue endurance.

ITGB4/CD104 mediates zika virus attachment and infection - Nature Communications
Abstract Zika virus (ZIKV) infection can result in a birth defect of the brain called microcephaly and other severe fetal brain defects. ZIKV enters the susceptible host cells by endocytosis, which is mediated by the interaction of the envelope (E) glycoprotein with cellular surface receptor molecules. However, the cellular factors that used by the ZIKV to gain access to host cells remains elusive. Here, we report that the extracellular domain of integrin beta 4 (ITGB4) is an entry factor of ZIKV.

A Novel Approach to Satellite Component Health Assessment Based on the Wasserstein Distance and Spectral Clustering
2. Problem Description and Overall Program 2.1. Problem Description This research aims to optimize the original method to address two specific challenges, with the goal of providing a more versatile approach to component health assessment. First, the MMD mentioned in [15] is capable of describing departures in the data distribution. However, it solely focuses on overall differences and fails to consider variations in the location distributions.

Direct observation of tensile-strain-induced nanoscale magnetic hardening - Nature Communications
Abstract Magnetoelasticity is the bond between magnetism and mechanics, but the intricate mechanisms via which magnetic states change due to mechanical strain remain poorly understood. Here, we provide direct nanoscale observations of how tensile strain modifies magnetic domains in a ferromagnetic Ni thin plate using in situ Fresnel defocus imaging, off-axis electron holography and a bimetallic deformation device.
Analysis of sensitive factors for sidetrack drilling in water-flooded oil reservoirs: data mining based on actual field data
1 Introduction Sidetracking well development technology is an important means of reviving and resuming production in old oil fields. This technology is essential for exploring and recovering oil reserves from previously unexplored reservoir zones, allowing for the exploration of resources in areas once considered inaccessible. As a result, sidetracking technology plays a pivotal role in the adjustment of old oil fields.
Field-free spin-orbit torque switching via out-of-plane spin-polarization induced by an antiferromagnetic insulator/heavy metal interface - Nature Communications
Abstract Manipulating spin polarization orientation is challenging but crucial for field-free spintronic devices. Although such manipulation has been demonstrated in a limited number of antiferromagnetic metal-based systems, the inevitable shunting effects from the metallic layer can reduce the overall device efficiency.

Tailoring the magnetic exchange interaction in MnBi2Te4 superlattices via the intercalation of ferromagnetic layers - Nature Electronics
Abstract The intrinsic magnetic topological insulator MnBi2Te4 (MBT) provides a platform for the creation of exotic quantum phenomena. Novel properties can be created by modification of the MnBi2Te4 framework, but the design of stable magnetic structures remains challenging. Here we report ferromagnet-intercalated MnBi2Te4 superlattices with tunable magnetic exchange interactions.
In situ atomic-scale observation of dislocation climb and grain boundary evolution in nanostructured metal - Nature Communications
Abstract Non-conservative dislocation climb plays a unique role in the plastic deformation and creep of crystalline materials. Nevertheless, the underlying atomic-scale mechanisms of dislocation climb have not been explored by direct experimental observations. Here, we report atomic-scale observations of grain boundary (GB) dislocation climb in nanostructured Au during in situ straining at room temperature.

Atomistic mechanism of phase transformation between topologically close-packed complex intermetallics - Nature Communications
Abstract Understanding how topologically close-packed phases (TCPs) transform between one another is one of the challenging puzzles in solid-state transformations. Here we use atomic-resolved tools to dissect the transition among TCPs, specifically the μ and P (or σ) phases in nickel-based superalloys. We discover that the P phase originates from intrinsic (110) faulted twin boundaries (FTB), which according to first-principles calculations is of extraordinarily low energy.
Observation of the antiferromagnetic spin Hall effect
Abstract The discovery of the spin Hall effect1 enabled the efficient generation and manipulation of the spin current. More recently, the magnetic spin Hall effect2,3 was observed in non-collinear antiferromagnets, where the spin conservation is broken due to the non-collinear spin configuration. This provides a unique opportunity to control the spin current and relevant device performance with controllable magnetization.
