The inequality of basic public services and the willingness to stay long-term of rural migrant workers at the county level: evidence from Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei in China
This study examines how county-level inequality in basic public services (IBPS) affects the willingness to stay (WTS) of rural migrant workers (RMWs) in China’s Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Results indicate that IBPS positively affects the RMWs’ willingness to settle in counties. This effect operates through three channels: family migration (particularly migration with children), obtaining local hukou, and securing public-sector employment.

ALKBH5 activates creatine-driven thermogenesis by stabilizing CKB mRNA in response to cold
Abstract Non-shivering thermogenesis contributes to increased energy expenditure and can be a potential therapy to combat obesity. Here we show that the adipose tissue N6-methyladenosine (m6A) demethylase ALKBH5 responds to cold and adrenergic stimulation to induce non-shivering thermogenesis independent of UCP1. Fat-specific Alkbh5 knockout reduces thermogenic capacity, increases susceptibility to obesity and disrupts glucose homoeostasis in both male and female mice.
Adipose FGF21 signalling mediates the anti-senescence effects of protein restriction
Introduction Several dietary interventions have been proposed to promote healthy ageing and extend lifespan (Fontana & Partridge, 2015; Mihaylova et al., 2023; Solon-Biet et al., 2014), among which dietary protein restriction (PR) has emerged as a robust and feasible strategy (Lu et al., 2025; Ren, 2025).
CD38-activated macrophages drive age-related placental senescence by depleting NAD + in decidual stromal cells
|
Abstract As delayed childbearing becomes increasingly common, elucidating the mechanisms of age-related placental senescence is critical for the development of effective therapeutic strategies. Here, we integrate metabolomics, single-cell RNA sequencing, and spatial transcriptomics to uncover conserved features of aged placentas in humans, mice, and pigs, namely, increased macrophage CD38 expression and NAD⁺ deficiency.

Observation of exact quantum critical states
|
Abstract Anderson localization describes the suppression of wave transport in disordered media. In quantum systems, it gives rise to extended, localized and critical eigenstates, with the latter showing properties between the other two. Characterizing critical states is challenging because it requires analysis in the thermodynamic limit or a universal mechanism that identifies them.

Logical multi-qubit entanglement with dual-rail superconducting qubits - Nature Physics
|
Abstract Recent advances in quantum error correction in various hardware platforms have demonstrated operation near and beyond the threshold for fault-tolerant quantum computing. However, scaling up to achieve the exponential suppression of logical errors needed for fault tolerance remains challenging. Erasure qubits offer a path towards resource-efficient error correction, which enables the hardware-level detection of dominant error types.

Sodium Storage Performance of a High Entropy Sulfide Anode with Reduced Volume Expansion
Sodium Storage Performance of a High Entropy Sulfide Anode with Reduced Volume Expansion Metal sulfides are prominent candidates for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) anodes owing to their high theoretical capacities and superior conductivities, but their performance is hindered by volume expansion during cycling. This study introduces an approach for mitigating these issues by incorporating high-entropy structures into sulfides.

Amino acid regulated citrus pectin‐based emulsion stability mediated by pH
Research Article Yaxin Sang and Jiangtao Li contributed equally to this work and should be considered as co-corresponding author. Abstract Background Citrus residuals are rich in nutrients like pectin, essential oil, and amino acids, which are wasted in the food industry. Moreover, citrus components often coexist with amino acids during emulsion preparation and application.
Electrical Pulse‐Driven Periodic Self‐Repair of Cu‐Ni Tandem Catalyst for Efficient Ammonia Synthesis from Nitrate
Graphical Abstract We report a programmable pulsed electrolysis strategy to achieve reliable Cu/Cu2O structure, where Cu is oxidized to CuO during oxidation pulse, then regenerating Cu/Cu2O upon reduction. Compared to static NO3− electroreduction on Cu, the generated Cu/Cu2O enables breaking the rate-determining step of NO3−-to-NO2− and suppressing hydrogen evolution reaction, resulting in superior performance for NO3−-to-NH3 conversion.

Enhancement of visible-light-driven CO2 reduction performance using amine-functionalized zirconium metal-organic framework
By employing a conjugated amine-functionalized dicarboxylic ligand (H L = 2,2'-diamino-4,4'-stilbenedicarboxylic acid, H SDCA-NH ), we have successfully synthesized and characterized a porous and visible light responsive zirconium metal-organic framework ([Zr O (OH) (L) ]•8DMF, denoted as Zr-SDCA-NH ). This Zr-MOF showed good chemical stability and broad visible light absorption with an absorption edge at about 600 nm.
