Estradiol regulates osteoclast sialylation via ST3Gal1 in postmenopausal osteoporosis - Bone Research
Abstract Estrogen deficiency after menopause accelerates bone loss by stimulating osteoclast formation and activity, but the molecular pathways that link estrogen signaling to osteoclast regulation remain incompletely defined. Here, we identify the sialyltransferase ST3GAL-I as a key mediator of RANKL-induced osteoclastogenesis. RANKL activates c-FOS to drive ST3GAL1 transcription, whereas estrogen-bound ERα competes with TRAF6 and suppresses this c-FOS–dependent induction.
RAD23B acquires a copper metalloadaptor function in amphibian-to-reptile evolution to increase metabolism and regulate genomic integrity
Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) Mice were deeply anesthetized and transcardially perfused using 1× DPBS (Gibco, Cat# 14190144). Brain tissue was embedded in Tissue-Tek OCT compound (Sakura finetek), flash frozen in Isopentane/liquid nitrogen bath, and cut into 20 μM sections.
Brain-wide representations of prior information in mouse decision-making - Nature
|
Abstract The neural representations of prior information about the state of the world are poorly understood1. Here, to investigate them, we examined brain-wide Neuropixels recordings and widefield calcium imaging collected by the International Brain Laboratory. Mice were trained to indicate the location of a visual grating stimulus, which appeared on the left or right with a prior probability alternating between 0.2 and 0.8 in blocks of variable length.

铅胁迫对地黄生长及光合特性的影响
To clarify the effects of lead(Pb)stress on the growth and photosynthetic characteristics of Rehmannia glutinosa, and to explore the response mechanism of medicinal plants to heavy metal stress,a pot experiment wasconducted using‘Beijing No.3’as the experimental material to investigate growth mass leaf photosynthetic pigmentcontent, photosynthetic parameters and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters as influenced by five exogenous Pb concentration(50,100,200,300,400 mg·kg -1).
An Introduction to Finite Element Analysis of Material Microstructure Properties in nanoHUB
Abstract FEA is a widely-used computational method for numerically solving engineering and mathematical problems described by differential equations with boundary conditions. In materials engineering, FEA provides useful insights into the relationship between the mechanical, electrical or thermal properties of materials and their microstructures, which are often complex in composition or topology.
GEE-Based Ecological Environment Variation Analysis under Human Projects in Typical China Loess Plateau Region
4.1. Temporal Variation of RSEI from 2002–2022 In the whole study area, we calculated the NDVI, WET, NDBSI, and LST using the GEE for the period of 2000–2022. Then, we applied PCA to obtain the RSEI, as shown in Figure 4. The EE has been consistently improving since 2002, with the fitted curve showing logarithmic growth. The RSEI curve had a steep slope before 2007, but the rate of increase slowed down in the later period.
An inferior-superior colliculus circuit controls auditory cue-directed visual spatial attention
Highlights • A mouse attention task: attending to cued stimulus, filtering out uncued stimulus • V1 and SCm neurons show stronger and faster responses to attended visual stimulus • Delay activity of nBIC neurons is modulated by auditory attention cue • nBIC delay activity is required for behavior and SCm, V1 attention modulation Summary Selective attention modulates neuronal activity in multiple brain regions, but the origins of attention signals remain unclear.
Inhibition of impulsive action by projection-defined prefrontal pyramidal neurons
Conventional theory says Jupiter formed where it is now. Two groups working independently have proposed an intriguing alternative.
Topological spin excitations in a three-dimensional antiferromagnet
Magnons are quantized spin-1 excitations from an ordered magnetic ground state. Unlike electrons, where the topological band crossings must be below the Fermi energy for momentum-resolved observation with photoemission, there is not a similar constraint on the energy level of magnons. However, many magnetic materials have too few spins in the primitive cell to allow for any magnon band crossing at all.
