The metabolism of nonstructural carbohydrates, lipids, and energy in two Cycas species with differential tolerance to unexpected freezing stress
1 Introduction Freezing stress can decrease membrane fluidity and the freezing-induced extracellular ice crystals can cause dehydration and physical stress, which result in the collapse of cell structure (Webb et al., 1994; Uemura et al., 1995; Barnes et al., 2016). Photosynthesis is one of the physiological processes that is highly sensitive to cold temperatures (Ensminger et al., 2006).

Integrated clustering signature of genomic heterogeneity, stemness and tumor microenvironment predicts glioma prognosis and immunotherapy response
Background: Glioma is the most frequent primary tumor of the central nervous system. The high heterogeneity of glioma tumors enables them to adapt to challenging environments, leading to resistance to treatment. Therefore, to detect the driving factors and improve the prognosis of glioma, it is essential to have a comprehensive understanding of the genomic heterogeneity, stemness, and immune microenvironment of glioma.
Forests | Free Full-Text | Estimating Forest Aboveground Biomass Combining Pléiades Satellite Imagery and Field Inventory Data in the Peak-Cluster Karst Region of Southwestern China
1. Introduction Forests absorb most of the atmospheric carbon and have a considerable impact on the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and its year-to-year variation [1,2]. However, due to continued forest loss and climate change, it could soon also be a source of carbon [3,4]. The aboveground biomass (AGB) is the largest carbon pool and changes most rapidly after disturbance.
Transportation Resilience Modeling and Bridge Reconstruction Planning Based on Time-Evolving Travel Demand during Post-Earthquake Recovery Period
1. Introduction 1.1. Characteristics of the Post-Earthquake Recovery Stage Earthquakes may have significant and long-term impacts on the population and infrastructure of modern communities, both of which substantially affect the performance of the transportation networks. Major earthquakes often cause changes in population size and distribution in the communities, which may affect the travel demand and origin-destination (OD) conditions accordingly.

In this article, the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) of the Miaoling area from 2000 to 2020 is studied using a trend analysis and the Mann–Kendall mutation test (MK test) to review the vegetation’s dynamic changes.
Non-volatile control of topological phase transition in an asymmetric ferroelectric In2Te2S monolayer
Non-volatile control of topological phase transition in an asymmetric ferroelectric In2Te2S monolayer The coupling of topological electronic states and ferroelectricity is highly desired due to their abundant physical phenomenon and potential applications in multifunctional device. However, it is difficult to achieve such a phenomenon in a single ferroelectric (FE) monolayer because the two polarized states are topologically equivalent.
Impact of Stove Renovation on PM2.5 Exposure, Risk Perception, Self-Protective Willingness of Rural Residents
Abstract : To improve household air quality, the Chinese government has launched a number of pilot stove renovation projects, but few studies have explored the impact of the project on people’s perception of and willingness to participate in these renovations; moreover, factors affecting willingness to pay for the project in rural China are not yet clear. We conducted a field measurement and a corresponding door-to-door questionnaire survey using the renovated group and the unrenovated group.

PPA1 Regulates Systemic Insulin Sensitivity by Maintaining Adipocyte Mitochondria Function as a Novel PPARγ Target Gene
Metabolism Abstract Downregulation of mitochondrial function in adipose tissue is considered as one important driver for the development of obesity-associated metabolic disorders. Inorganic pyrophosphatase 1 (PPA1) is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of inorganic pyrophosphate to inorganic phosphate and is required for anabolism to take place in cells. Although alteration of PPA1 has been related to some diseases, the importance of PPA1 in metabolic syndromes has never been discussed.
